Treat a very special person in your life to the Big Moose Inn's "Red Letter Day" Special on their Birthday.

From the moment you enter the Big Moose Inn, it will be evident that you and your guests are celebrating something very special. Red is the theme of our Red Letter Day special. Upon arrival in our parking area, pull right up to the entrance. You will have a red carpet host assigned especially to your group. Your red carpet host will greet you at the entrance, and arrange for valet parking. You will immediately be escorted to the best table in the dining room by your red carpet host. Your table will be festively decorated with red accents for the occasion and red candles for a candlelit dinner. Champagne, (or wine, if you prefer) will be waiting tableside for the celebratory "pop". The birthday honoree will be seated at the head of the table, where the chair will sit atop our special occasion red-carpet. As you toast the occasion, your red-carpet host will take a photo of your party. The guest of honor will also have his entrée served on a special and unique "red plate" commemorating the event. Any one of several special desserts can be ordered. Our recommendation, of course, is the Big Moose Inn "Red Cake". The special dessert will be specially presented by our head chef. A perfect gift for the adventurous spirit! Experience the pristine beauty of the Adirondacks as it once was - and still is!

This package includes: upon arrival at the Inn a delicious dinner for two at a lake view table overlooking Big Moose Lake.

Next morning, drive 18 miles through the wilderness to the Stillwater reservoir. There, you will board a small tour boat to take you to the far end of the reservoir. Stillwater has over 100 miles of wilderness shoreline. Then a short bus ride brings you to the center of Beaver River, and the Norridgewock Hotel, (www.beaverriver.com). Accessible only by boat in the summer and snowmobile in the winter, Beaver River is one of the most unique wilderness communities in the Adirondacks. Your hosts, the Thompson family, have operated the Norridgewock Hotel year around for five generations. Getting there is half the fun! View wildlife and the spectacular beauty of the "Forever Wild" lands that border the Reservoir and surround Beaver River. Bring your binoculars to view eagles and osprey.

Upon returning to the lower end of Stillwater, you will be just in time for your complimentary beverage at the cozy bar in the Stillwater Restaurant, (www.stillwateradirondacks.com). Dinner is on your own, but we recommend either the Stillwater Restaurant, or the Big Moose Station, (www.bigmoosestation.com), which you will pass on your way back to the Big Moose Inn. At Stillwater, meet Joe and Marion, the owners. Watch the humming birds feed as you dine. Open the tableside window and Marion can show you how to get one to land on your finger as it feeds. The Big Moose Station Restaurant is located in the old New York Central Train Station that served the village of Big Moose right next to the unused tracks that you saw running through the center of Beaver River. Until 1965, you could travel by passenger train through the Adirondacks all the way to Montreal, passing through Thendara, Big Moose, Beaver River, Saranac Lake and Malone. Rick, your host and chef will greet you wearing a period railroad conductor's hat in place of the traditional Toque Blanche.
