100/10 recommend Big Moose Inn. Jazz and Josh were so kind, friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond many times for me during my stay. I’m used to camping when I vacation in the Adirondacks, but this time as a birthday gift my husband took me to The Big Moose Inn and I can’t wait to go back with the rest of our family. I see some comments about needing updates and I think the place is pretty well updated. I also love the cozy home feel and the family like atmosphere. I’ve been to the ADK every year since birth and I have stayed in many places- The Big Moose Inn is by far the best in my opinion!

Food and the new deck is wonderful. Plenty of lake things to do and enjoy too. I would hold off on getting a room until they are up graded more because they are beyond old/dated. Unfortunately we must have had the "could only happen to us" stay. Towel rack hanging, so OK no one cleaning the room said any thing-got fixed. But then the sink was plugged right off the start. We used the tub water to brush/wash. Due to Covid did not want people in room to fix it, and other issue too. It will take them time to upgrade more-later again sometime for us. New owners are trying very hard that I can say for sure.

One of my favorite Adirondack destinations when I travel through the park and visit upstate NY! I have been going for years and visit summer, fall and winters when snowmobiling... A nice cozy atmosphere, cool bar and eating area, with a wonderful porch to relax on overlooking the lake.

My wife and I went here for our 1 year anniversary from September 29 to October 1 2019. The location was beautiful and the room was very nice and clean. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. Also, the food was awesome! I highly recommend this place for any occasion. We can’t wait to come back.

We just returned home from a 5 day stay at the Inn. What a wonderful stay it was. The rustic and historic Inn has been cared for by the owners Mark and Susan and sometimes with help from one or two of their school age children. The staff were all very helpful and professional. The food was excellent... from a really great burger to tasty salmon... I can’t forget the homemade snickerdoodle cake topped with homemade cinnamon ice cream. The best compliment is: “We’ll be back”.

My grandmother and I go here for a special dinner every summer. The views are lovely and the food is delicious. My family vacations every Aug in the Adirondacks. As soon as we settle in and unpack, the first thing we decide is what night are we eating at the Big Moose Inn! We love it here! We have stayed here in the early summer with visitors from Germany more than once and everyone had a great time. It’s a peaceful area with kayaks, canoes, hiking and small town charm nearby. My husband makes sure he stops here each time he and his friends are snowmobiling up north. Ashley & I ate & drank with Mr. Mark tonight @ the big moose inn. We had mozzarella sticks (my usual) and I'm pretty picky about fried cheese. It was not over cooked, and came out quick. Our beverages were on point as well and we enjoyed several throughout the meal. We had the Cajun prime rib sandwich. Super simple, yet perfectly done. We will absolutely be back again since every time we have been there, we have enjoyed above average service and food quality for the area. Another huge plus is the fact that the owner is not only at arms reach while dining in his restaurant, but also conveys complete and accurate trail reports online that are typically used as the basis for my decision to make my 7 hour trip from Maryland to Old Forge. A+ service!

Most amazing gem in the north country!! Mark and Susan always go above and beyond to ensure an amazing stay. Whether is be jump starting every snowmobile and vehicle on a -30 day, or helping an injured rider in need, the entire staff goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the well being of everyone in the area. The food is AMAZING and the entire staff is top notch. I'd highly recommend staying here, or at least stopping in for a bit to eat. You will not be disappointed!

One of our favorite summer (or winter) places to eat. Good service, especially from an attentive summer staff member who was foreign and spoke excellent English because our waitress was all but absent after taking our drink order. It was a slow Tuesday and the dining room was mostly empty; some other guests ate in the bar room. We sat lakeside in the main room. The food was excellent, we ordered an appetizer (spinach artichoke dip), scallops, beef and a seasoned Italian grill chicken dish for entrees. Pricing was high, but fair, pinot grigio reasonable at $5/glass, a Knob Creek $7.50, we didn't have dessert.

We had a lovely dinner last night in the dining room with a gorgeous view of the lake. Service was superb and our server Robin was top notch ! For an appetizer we had the lasagna egg rolls, delish. He had the Chop and I had the Haddock, both were prepared excellent...only problem, we didn't have room for dessert. Can't wait to go back again.

I stayed overnight and ate in the comfortable dining room many years ago. The rooms were generous and clean and I have no doubt that they still are kept that way. We had the clam chowder with real clams in the shell. Maybe the best we've ever had. Clams perfectly cooked. Fresh baked soft pretzels, delicious. Burger was good. Myself and friend had the fish taco, since we both like fish and the waitress did a great job selling it. Neither of us cared for it. Haddock may not be the best choice for this or we thought if it had been chopped a little and seasoned maybe would have been better. Even with the not so good tacos, we all will be back.

This place is BEAUTIFUL. We had incredible service, a great room (and we had our little one. Our room had a nook we could put his pack'n play in), and deliciously food. Just a little ways from Old Forge, but the peace and quiet is much needed! I absolutely recommend!

The owners are great and very accommodating. We always have Shana as our waitress. She is exceptional. The food is the best. Lobster ravioli, shrimp, and scallops are incredible!! Best place in the ADK!! We have been dining there for 9 years and have never been disappointed!!!

My wife and me have now spent time there on several occasions with a special group of friends. We like the place, the atmosphere, food and especially the beautiful area as well. It is always worth the trip. And the Lord willing we will be there coming May.

Adorable and comfortable Inn with the friendliest owners and delicious food. I rarely like to stay at the hotel but I didn't want to leave. Best part is porch and outdoor lakefront fire at night.

My husband and I stayed here for our 1 year wedding anniversary. Everyone was wonderful!! The owners, servers, bartender, even the housekeeper! Very clean, comfortable. Views were amazing! I cannot even begin to describe how delicious the food was! The Scallop Charleston was the best dish I have ever had! My husband recommends the Shrimp Scampi. We will be coming back for sure! Thank you to all the staff for all you did for us!

WHat an amazing place to melt your stress away, perfect for any one, at any age, seniors, couples family get away! just in Love with this place!! Had so much fun! and amazing food! Mark and Susan were so great! and made us feel so comfy! and rest of the staff was very friendly, love love everything about this place! if you want to go there I really recommend getting lake view rooms, because I took tons of pics just staying in comfort of our room. Our family had loads of fun, and my daughter is love with this place :), beautiful views, amazing food, enjoyable for every age group, what else could you ask for?
